Blog Announcements
Two announcements that might be of interest to my blog readers:
1) I got a note from my hosting company that they are physically moving my server to another data center tonight. The last time I had a hosting server moved, I was down for a week (different hosting company, though). Let’s hope that doesn’t happen this time.
2) I know blogging has been light the past month or so. I had a book deadline at the end of February and I have my comprehensive exams for my Master’s Degree this Saturday, both of which have taken over all my “free” writing time. Hopefully after my exams I’ll be able to blog more (that is, if my brain hasn’t exploded by then).
Until then, I pray that everyone is having a blessed Lent!

Good luck on your exams! Are you doing a distance Masters program? How would you say that works out with a family and a full-time job?
I’ve long wanted to a pursue an advanced degree in theology, but I think a distance program would be my only option and I’m trying to discern whether it would be compatible with my vocation as a husband and father.

I did a little bit of both. I was in the Master’s program at Franciscan University in the 1990′s and while there I took all my prerequisites as well as my foundational courses. I had to stop when I got married, as I could no longer afford it. Then a few years ago I decided to finish the degree via distance education. It has been a challenge at times to balance it with work and family obligations, but it was worth it.
I definitely prefer taking courses on-campus, but for situations like mine (and perhaps yours), distance education is a viable alternative.
