What about if instead of the internet, I am really into books I can totally ignore my surroundings for several days? Totally a no-no like what you said in your first advice? Your blog is awesome, by the way. =)

Excellent comments! Good rules to consider living by. I feel "prompted" to make a comment. There are many who are "cloistered by disability. Unable to leave their homes, with few visitors. For them e-mail and letters and the occasional face to face are all they have by means of communication, but is this true. They also have prayer, for others; Contemplation, "listening to God", reading the Breviary, the lives of Saints, the Gospels, etc. One can choose instead of being sorry for oneself to find this as an opportunity to devote ones life to prayer for others, to perhaps if asked become a victim soul, to offer up all one's suffering and pain, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual for others out of love for Papa and Jesus. This results in growing much closer to Jesus. The focus should be loving God, and loving His children with His love at every opportunity. Nuns and Monks can offer even seculars ideas on living in cloister.
