If you kill me, I’ll go to heaven and you’ll go to hell

This is a great story. A 92-year-old woman is held at gunpoint and ends up evangelizing her attacker and bringing him to tears of repentance:

Next time you think you can’t evangelize, remember Pauline Jacobi.

  1. Not exactly “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” is it? A good woman even if there weren’t someone there to shoot her every day of her life.

  4. “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”

At the time, I thought that was a goofy line. I guess not!

  5. How does she know she will go to heaven or he will go to Hell? This a Protestant evangelization line to (probably) another Protestant since this is occurred in America. I wonder what a Catholic line would sound like…maybe something like…

“I don’t know if I will go to heaven that is for God to decide. I do know that I am innocent and killing of the innocent is a grave sin. If you do not repent you will go to hell. I am repenting know as I am speaking so I will maybe go to purgatory or heaven. Either way when I enter God’s kingdom I will pray for you.”

Maybe that is what she implicitly implied in her line? If she was Catholic…

  6. Anthony,
C’mon, man, just because a Catholic wouldn’t state it just as she did doesn’t mean a Catholic would, at gunpoint, be tripping all over contingencies. Not to put too fine a point on it, but I don’t think your paragraph meets St. Peter’s rule of always being “prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in you.” When the moment of death is imminent, are we not to above all rely on the mercy of God?

I suppose my holy (Catholic) grandmother would have put it more like “Fine. I’m prepared to die. Are you?” Nevertheless, what this woman said was a concise way of calling the man to repentance (and was consistent with what is probably the only faith tradition she has ever known). That’s admirable.

  7. Anthony, Really? You listen to an inspirational story and the first thought you have is how do I bash Catholics?

  8. You can’t take Anthony seriously. The Holy Spirit did not speak to him through this video and message. He wants to get caught up in semantics as opposed to seeing this video for what it truly is, a humble and inspiring act by a beautiful woman. Furthermore, we don’t know if Anthony is bashing Catholics or Protestants to be honest. But “bashing” again is not a fruit of The Sprit, which tells me he is in the wrong regardless.
