Introduction

What is something we all want, but never finish receiving?

More.

We want more money, more time, more friends,
Why is it that we never feel satisfied with what we have?
or a more expensive house. But even if we get these things, we still feel like we need more of something: we are never fulfilled. There is still a basic emptiness that exists in us. Why is it that we never feel satisfied with what we have? The answer lies in our very nature: human beings have an infinite capacity for happiness; thus they cannot be fulfilled by the finite things of this world. We were made to live in the infinite, divine life of God. As St. Augustine said of God, "You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee."
